What's wrong with these Sox?

What is it about this year's team that seems to be night and day different from last year's World Champions?

There's always the built in excuse that the World Champs have a target on their back, but this year's Sox seem to beat themselves.  They lack the timely hitting that last years squad had.  They are terrible in extra inning games and are usually victimized by poor defense in those situations.

Really and truly, the results thus far this season reinforce what a fortunate bunch we had last year.  They were great in one run games, great in extra inning games.

Bottom line, if you were Ben Cherrington, what moves could you make to change things?  Maybe another bat?  I'm not Cherrington's biggest fan, but I honestly think the guy has done about as good a job as possible under the circumstances.

I'm going to hold off on hitting the panic button for now.  These Sox have enough time and certainly are capable of turning it around if they play a little better defense and start getting more aggressive on the base paths.

What do you think?

America's Economic Situation Explained in Simple Terms

This is one of the best explanations of this country's economic condition I ever received...that is why I'm publishing it here for you.  Maybe you will appreciate it as I did.  It is a two part lesson.

Lesson # 1:

U.S. Federal Tax Revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
Federal Spending: $3,820,000,000,000
Budget Deficit (new debt): $1,650,000,000,000
Cumulative National Debt: $16,271,000,000,000
Recent Federal budget cuts (Deficit reductions): $ 38,500,000,000

Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:

Annual family income: $21,700
Money the family spent: $38,200
New debt on the credit card: $16,500
Outstanding balance on the credit card: $162,710
Total budget cuts: $385

Can you see how Washington D.C.'s "status quo" math just doesn't add up to anything other than a disaster for the future of America?

Lesson # 2:
Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling.
You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood.  Your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings.  What do you think you should do?
Option A: Raise the ceilings
Option B: Pump out the crap?

Your choice is coming November 6, 2012 at a polling place near you.

I'm personally for Option B. Vote for Mitt Romney to bring back economic prosperity and fiscal responsibility to Washington.

Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

With Sweep of Yanks in Bronx, Sox Are Finally Back to 0.500

Clean the slate…It’s a Do-Over…or insert your own favorite euphemism here.

I don’t want to give the Yankees too much credit, but they are an above average club.  They didn’t exactly play like that over the weekend, nonetheless whenever you can sweep a team at their home park it’s a big deal.

With Sunday night’s victory over the Yankees, the Red Sox have finally become as good as they are bad…that’s what being 0.500 means.  It’s definitely a step in the right direction and shows that the Sox are beginning to play up to their potential, but let us not get too carried away right now.

If Lester can continue to show what he showed us all last night, Lackey can get his act back together, and if Crawford ever lives up to the expectations we had for him when he signed that big off season deal, we’ll see how this club can measure up.

Where do you see the Sox finishing up in the AL East?  Will they play for the pennant at the end of the year?
